  • Design automation logic and control sequences for machine operation
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate mechanical, electrical, and software systems
Motion, Control & Safety System Development
  • Implement motion control using servo drives, VFDs, and smart components
  • Integrate sensors, field I/O, and industrial devices into complete automation systems
  • Program and validate machine safety systems (e.g. safety relays, safety PLCs, light curtains, E-stops, and door interlocks)
  • Ensure all safety systems comply with Machinery Directive, ISO 13849, or relevant local standards
  • Coordination with third parties and end users
Machine Risk Assessment & Compliance
  • Support or lead machine risk assessments during system design and pre-commissioning phases
  • Identify potential hazards and propose mitigation strategies through safe system design
  • Document safety requirements and ensure traceability through to final commissioning
SCADA & Network Integration
  • Design and configure SCADA systems (e.g. FactoryTalk View) for process monitoring, alarms, and data logging
  • Set up secure and reliable automation networks, including VLANs, managed switches, and protocol routing (Ethernet/IP, OPC UA, etc.)
  • Support integration with MES/ERP systems where applicable
System Commissioning
  • Participate in FAT, SAT, and on-site commissioning
  • Debug and optimize control and safety systems in production environments
  • Provide technical support and training to customers and operators
  • Support sites with troubleshooting of system issues
Documentation & Quality
  • Prepare system documentation: Functional Design Specifications, network diagrams, safety validation reports, test records, and manuals
  • Maintain accurate records of configurations and changes in line with our Quality Management System (QMS) and GMP standards
Continuous Improvement & Support
  • Identify and implement system improvements during development and commissioning
  • Support system upgrades, change controls, and post-installation service
Skills & Knowledge/Qualifications

Education:

Technical Experience:
  • 3–5 years of hands-on experience with PLC/HMI systems, preferably Allen Bradley
  • Familiarity with machine safety systems, including safety PLCs and risk assessments
  • Understanding of ISO 13849, EN 62061, and/or Machinery Directive compliance processes
  • Exposure to validation protocols (FAT, SAT, IQ/OQ) and regulated industry standards
  • Additional knowledge of robotics, vision systems, or data acquisition is an advantage
Soft Skills:
  • Practical, self-driven problem-solver with strong technical judgment
  • Effective communicator with clear documentation and reporting abilities
  • Comfortable working in cross-functional teams or independently
  • Organized and detail-focused, especially in compliance-driven environments
